BeanTov is a guide to NYC's coffee shops — built for people who care more about where they're drinking than the chain on the corner.

We're building it neighborhood by neighborhood, starting with the Upper West Side. Every café gets visited and rated honestly before it goes live. As we cover more ground, more of the city opens up on the map.

Google Maps shows you everything, which means it shows you nothing. Yelp reviews are about whether the avocado toast was good. Apps that did this well — Beanhunter especially — have all died or gotten worse. We're the small, opinionated version that should exist.

Every café here is rated honestly by people who actually drink the coffee. No sponsored placements, no pay-to-play rankings. If a café is mediocre, we say so. If it's excellent, you'll know.

A note on ads
BeanTov will run ads to stay free. We won't take money to inflate a café's rating, and sponsored content will be clearly labeled. The goal is to keep the guide honest and the doors open.

If a place is missing, tell us. If we got one wrong, tell us harder.
